Distress Turnarounds

Nutmeg Gaming & Products Company aka: CT Bingo Supply

Frequently, choosing to use our market-making and financial advisory services can lead to the winning card….BINGO!! Until its acquisition by Nutmeg Gaming & Products Company in 2019, the predecessor company A-1 Games in Bristol, CT, known as CT Bingo Supply, was a family business in the bingo/gaming wholesale distribution business for close to 35 years. With an additional acquisition by Nutmeg in 2021, they are now the largest supplier of bingo, charitable games supplies, and equipment in New England. Family Transitions

E. W. Hannas Inc.

We were pleased to be referred to this financing by the Attorney for the Seller.  We had worked with this Attorney in a prior transaction, and he was confident we might bring Seller and buyer to a workable agreement and close on a financing to make the Sale happen.  Retained by the Buyer, we succeeded in negotiating the purchase of this firm for the fourth-generation owner and now President, Mark Hannas. We then created a financing structure tailored to the firm’s Cash Flow and assisted in closing on the acquisition and working capital financing to facilitate the transfer of ownership of E. W. Hannas, Inc. in Old Saybrook, CT.

E.W. Hannas, Inc. is a premier source for custom wood products. Hannas supplies simple turned wood products such as dowels, flagpoles, and skewers to more geometrically complicated items such as finials, drumsticks, decorative wooden handles, hinged wine boxes, and more. Please consider them for your wood product needs:

An American Success Story

Shoreline Quick Lube & Car Wash

Investment Bankers have our favorite stories of successful financings and companies. A favorite financing is Shoreline Quick Lube and & Car Wash, and its owner, Julio Tapia. Car Wash and Lube Centers may not be the typical bread and butter of corporate finance, but Julio shines with the best! (An irresistible auto detailing reference!)

The Story: Julio was born and raised in Ecuador, and shortly after he moved to the US, he went to work for Shoreline Quick Lube. He was trained and mentored by the prior owner, Brian Kelly, for a dozen years. Kelly could see that he was training his Successor and “exit plan,” and Julio became the General Manager of the operation Read More

Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans

From Veterans to Entrepreneurs

Not all of our activity is raising capital or paid relationships. It has been a special pleasure for me to be able to facilitate a panel discussion on credit and finance for UCONN’s Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans. These are extraordinary men and women veterans, and a number of the graduates have begun their own businesses. A special shout-out of thanks goes to my other recent panelists: Jim Bzdyra, the President & CEO of Community Economic Development Fund, and Bob Polito, the retired head of SBA financing for Webster Bank.

The Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans, or EBV, is a nationally recognized educational program to support business initiatives for Veterans through experiential and small business management training.
